Careers at Atterberry Auction & Realty Company
Atterberry Auction & Realty Company helps families, estates, and businesses across mid-Missouri sell with confidence through trusted real estate and personal property auctions.
We believe great teams make great auctions and every role matters. From cataloging one-of-a-kind collectibles to helping families through downsizing or senior living transitions, our work is built on trust, teamwork and a shared sense of purpose.
If you’re looking for meaningful, hands-on work with a company that values people as much as performance, you might be a great fit for Atterberry Auction & Realty Company.
Now Hiring: Personal Property Sales
Atterberry Auction & Realty Company is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven professional to help grow our personal property and micro auction business. This role is responsible for identifying new opportunities, meeting with prospective sellers, evaluating assets, and guiding clients through the auction process from initial conversation through signed contract. From there, this role works closely with the Personal Property Project Manager to ensure a smooth handoff and consistent seller experience through auction completion.
This is a sales-focused position with a strong emphasis on lead generation, business development, and client service. The right candidate will be proactive in building relationships, pursuing new opportunities, and helping sellers determine whether the auction method is the right fit for their assets. Follow-through and teamwork after the contract is signed are equally important — this role plays an active part in positioning each auction for success.
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations & Marketing, is full-time and office-based with travel throughout mid-Missouri, and includes a base salary plus commission.
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Proactively identify, pursue and develop new leads for personal property and micro auctions
- Build relationships with prospective sellers, referral sources, industry contacts and community partners
- Conduct outreach, networking and follow-up to generate new auction opportunities
- Represent the company professionally in the field and within the community
- Help grow awareness of Atterberry’s personal property auction services across a wide range of asset categories
Client Consultation & Client Sales
- Meet with prospective clients to evaluate assets and discuss selling goals
- Recommend the most effective sales approach based on the type of auction and the marketability of the assets
- Explain the auction process clearly and professionally, setting realistic expectations for sellers
- Secure signed contracts for personal property and micro auctions
- Serve as a trusted resource for clients during the decision-making process
- Support post-auction buyer communication as needed, including inquiries related to pickup scheduling, haulbacks, and related logistics, in coordination with the Personal Property Project Manager.
Asset Evaluation & Auction Fit
- Evaluate a broad range of personal property including estates, collections, equipment, vehicles, tools, firearms, coins, business assets and specialty items
- Assess whether potential auctions are operationally and financially appropriate for the company
- Identify key value drivers, standout items and marketable categories that will strengthen an auction
- Communicate accurate and complete information to internal team members following contract execution
Post-Contract Support & Team Collaboration
- Remain engaged after contracts are signed to support a smooth transition into the auction planning and execution phase
- Partner closely with the Personal Property Project Manager to ensure details, expectations and seller needs are clearly communicated
- Assist with seller communication, auction support and internal coordination as needed after contract execution
- Support large personal property auctions when all-hands-on-deck assistance is needed
- Contribute to company-wide initiatives and maintain a team-first approach across departments
Micro Auction Management
This role independently owns micro auctions from start to finish — identifying sellers, listing, photographing, cataloging, building, and publishing the auction to the online auction platform. Full ownership and self-sufficiency in this area are expected.
Marketing & Operational Support
This role is supported by robust in-house marketing initiatives, including email campaigns, social media content, paid social advertising, radio, television and other promotional efforts designed to help drive awareness and support business development.
Atterberry Auction & Realty Company also provides strong operational support behind the scenes. Existing team members bring experience and expertise in areas such as coins, firearms and other asset categories, offering helpful insight when evaluating opportunities. Our personal property team also plays a key role in organizing, listing, photographing and preparing auctions for market, allowing this position to work alongside an established team rather than operating alone.
